If the internet goes down

Search keeps working without the internet.

On the Spec computer itself, search and sign-in keep working with no internet at all.
Phones reach Spec over the Spec computer’s internet line, so that line matters when you’re away from the office.
Spec connects out, so a backup line such as Starlink works with no settings to change.

If the office internet goes down

Switch the Spec computer to its backup line, such as Starlink.
Wait about half a minute. Spec reconnects by itself.
On phones, tap “Try again”. Nothing else changes.

Save data on the backup line

An admin can pause copies from AWS with one button, and resume them later.
Set speed limits for working hours and for nights.
Tell Spec you have a backup line, and copies wait longer through a drop before giving up, then carry on where they stopped.

Early access: we have tested switching lines in our own tests, not yet on a real Starlink line. Spec computers at customers’ offices get this with the installer.
